Tanaka Tomoyuki

Born in 1967. Bachelor's Degree from Nagoya University, School of Letters (1989, English Literature); Master's Degree from Nagoya University, Graduate School of Letters (1991, English Literature); Participation in Doctoral Program at Nagoya University, Graduate School of Letters (1992, English Literature); Full-time instructor at Ibaraki University, College of Humanities (1992); Full-time instructor (1995) and Assistant Professor (1998) at Tokyo Gakugei University, School of Education; Assistant Professor at Nagoya University, Graduate School of Letters (2000); Visiting Researcher at Harvard University, Department of Linguistics (2002-2003)

Associate Professor Tanaka studies (historical) syntactics, mainly in English based on generative grammar. His recent research subjects include distribution and licensing of subjects as well as a synchronic and diachronic study of clause structures, especially structures of infinitive clauses and small clauses.
His instruction aims to foster the ability to accurately describe and explain linguistic facts based on a specific linguistic theory, so that he can assist students to be ready to present their research achievements in both domestic and international forums.
